Chaperone FAQs
1. What are the required duties of a chaperone?
We are basically here to make sure we come back with everyone we leave with. We will be responsible for room checks 2-3 times a day and making sure students are following the rules of the ship and the code of conduct. No drugs, no alcohol, no weapons!
2. Are chaperones required to book rooms in the balcony area?
As a Chaperone ,you may choose any cabin choice you prefer. We kindly request that you not book a balcony if your student will be in the same room. If you have separate rooms, but want to be on the same level, then you will need to book two of the same room type.
3. Is there a discount for chaperones?
Chaperones must book cabins and make payments and will be required to pay all port fees and taxes. Chaperones MAY receive a discount or onboard credit. This is NOT GUARANTEED! The PTSA will split the ship credit received with all registered chaperones, not to exceed 50% of your cabin rate. (currently estimated at $40 per chaperone)
4. Can my family (significant other, children, immediate relatives) come on this trip? Do they have to sign up as chaperones?
Yes, this is a family-friendly trip. Family is welcome as long as all required fees are paid. Family and friends are welcome to provide their own transportation to and from Port Canaveral. Only official chaperones are required to ride the provided bus transportation.
If seats are available, we will open seating for first come-first serve, with full payment ($110).
5. How are chaperones selected?
Chaperones are selected on a first come, first pay basis. You will be responsible for completing a background check (at your expense). Instructions will be provided in your confirmation email.
