We are Bridging the Gap The Discovery Cluster PTA units of Alford ES, Baggett ES, Benefield ES, Cedar Hill ES, Richards MS and Discovery HS have joined forces. Together, we are making efforts to support each school in its Educational, Fundraising, and Spirit activities. Together we are stronger! With many families in the Discovery Cluster having students in multiple schools, we are working to create stress-free scheduling of events and reaching out to parents to join and support the PTA units in the Discovery Cluster. Why should I join the PTSA? Parents: To benefit your child. In doing so, you also help your school. By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTSAs play an important role by supporting building improvements through advocacy and play an important role in fundraising for curriculum based programs and social events. Teachers/Educators: PTSA addresses issues that are important to parents and public school administrators. We fight for full funding, quality teachers, and capabilities for schools to thrive. Students: PTSA student leaders earn community service hours for their contributions to the organization. Businesses: PTSA strives to create meaningful partnerships and alliances to further family engagement, improve student success, and share relevant resources. All levels: PTSAs focus on what students need to be successful in their learning, including nutrition, health, school safety, physical fitness and general well-being. PTSA works with schools to ensure that children succeed. Volunteering is not required to become a PTSA member, but always appreciated. 2016-17 Membership Goal 300 members Current Member count 184 members Current Discovery Student Enrollment 2615 students If one person from every household joined the PTSA, we could raise over $26,000 to be used to reach our enhancement goals.
