Listed below are various scholarship opportunities for 2020-21 graduating seniors.
Georgia PTA Scholarship *OPEN*
Georgia PTA Scholarships assist students who have successfully completed high school and who are interested in furthering their education in a college, university or post-secondary institution. Georgia PTA Scholarships, the first of which was established in 1963, are funded solely through memberships, local unit PTA, Council contributions and other donations. The number of awards and amounts of each scholarship vary year-to-year depending on the donations.
This is a one-year, non-renewable grant.

This is a one-year, non-renewable grant.
A student is eligible to apply for a Georgia PTA Scholarship if he/she:
- Is a graduating senior of a Georgia high school with a PTA/PTSA.
- Parent/guardian is a current member of PTA/PTSA. The PTA/PTSA must be in good standing (i.e., dues paid, approved bylaws on file).
- Student AND parent/guardian must provide a copy of PTA/PTSA membership card with application.
- Will attend a college, university, post-secondary institution or trade/vocational school during the upcoming school year.
- Has exhibited good character.
- Has a satisfactory scholastic record. Grade point 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Has not received a full scholarship(s).
- Is NOT related to a member of the Georgia PTA Board of Directors nor an appointed Specialist or Consultant.
Don’t forget to include these items in your application package:
- Proof of your PTA membership
- Describe what the PTA/PTSA means to you and your involvement in your school's PTA/PTSA.
- Copy of transcript.
- Student profile resume.
- Two completed reference letters, written specifically for this application.
- When mailing your application packet, please assemble packet in the following order: application, letters of recommendation, essay, transcript, and copy of membership cards.

Area III Gwinnett Council Scholarship *OPEN*
Area 3 Gwinnett Council of PTAs serves 43 schools in 6 clusters in the Gwinnett County Public Schools by providing leadership and training to local units and its membership. The scholarships are funded solely through local unit PTA dues and contributions. Area 3 is proud to award five (5) $500 scholarships to deserving high school students who have successfully met or exceeded the State of Georgia graduation requirements, and plan to attend an accredited two or four year college or university.
The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students who have successfully completed high school who are interested in furthering their education in a college or university to prepare themselves for careers of their choice with the goal of having these individuals maintain their support and commitment to the advancement of education. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship.

Discovery High PTSA Scholarship *OPEN*
The Discovery High School PTSA is pleased to announce that it will present two scholarships, up to $250, to one female and one male graduating senior. These seniors will be chosen by the PTSA Scholarship Committee. The award check will be made out to the winning student for educational expenses related to post-secondary education. The money is to be used by the student for books, student fees, or other educational expenses as he or she pursues post-secondary educational opportunities upon graduation from Discovery High School.
Scholarship Requirements
Applicant's must:
Be a graduating senior of Discovery High School and continuing with post-secondary education.
Be a paid member of the 2020-2021 Discovery High School PTSA. (If needed, a Membership payment link is attached.)
Parent/guardian must be a current paid member of PTA/PTSA
Submit a Letter of Recommendation from one of your high school teachers.
Submit a second Letter of Recommendation from a non-relative outside the school system. (For example: a community member, employer, neighbor, clergy member, etc.)
Complete a 500-700 word essay, typed and double-spaced. The topic of the essay is listed on the attached sheet.

Miss Discovery & Mr. Titan Compettion *OPEN*
How to Participate
Submit videos covering the 4 categories and complete an online (Zoom) panel interview.
Competitors provided a $40 fee to cover incidentals that include Competition t-shirt, PTSA membership, Awards, Judge and Tech fees.

Costume Fashion (Fun Fashion): Costume Fashion showcases each contestant’s ability to fun creative styles. Judges consider each contestant’s choice of attire, style, fashion-appeal, and presence.
Runway Fashion: Runway Fashion showcases each contestant’s ability to model fashion befitting for the runway. Judges consider each contestant’s choice of attire, style, fashion-appeal, and presence. All choices should be tasteful, current, and relevant.
Current Event Question: Question related to current events and how it relates to students. It carries a percentage amount combined with all other scored categories. Please answer only one of the following questions:
* How has the COVID-19 pandemic affected your school/social life?
* What is your opinion about grading systems and competition platforms?
* How will graduating from High School impact your future choices and goals?
* If you were running for a leadership role (President, Governor, etc.), what critical issues would you address? Name two and explain.
Formalwear: Formalwear reveals each contestant’s charm and poise. Formalwear choices must not be business attire; however, trendy selections of high-fashion formalwear are acceptable.

Panel Interview: Private Interview consists of a seven-minute (7:00) interview conducted by the judges with each contestant. The interview is designed to discover the contestant’s interests, opinions, aspirations, accomplishments, poise, presence, and ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the title.
