PTSA: Community Service
Discovery High School recognizes community service hours by placing a seal on the diploma. The objective of community service is to provide an opportunity for students to make meaningful connections and enrich the lives of others by performing service for their community. Ultimately, the goal is for students to develop and demonstrate character traits essential for building stronger communities and promoting civic engagement among their peers. Students must accumulate 100 total hours of community service to receive a seal on the diploma. The 100 hours can be accumulated throughout the high school years at Discovery High School.
Students may volunteer at any PTSA organized function for community service hours. Each student must log their hours via the PTSA website and request an hours verification printout to be submitted for any required documentation.
